UK petition against cosmetic assignment surgery upon intersex infants

By on .

AN e-petition against the widespread practice of intersex genital mutilation (IGM) aka intersex assignment surgery amongst other euphemisms has been posted by Miss Anne Carter under the UK Government’s Directgov e-petitions scheme.

Surgery on intersex infants and children is mutilation and in breach of the child’s human rights under UN Children’s Charter and puts the child in danger of suicide. It is time for the Government to put a stop to this surgery.

We encourage everyone concerned about this medical practice to add their name to the petition. An address in the UK is required, even if you are not currently located in the United Kingdom.
